Good Work Pledge: IoSCM delighted to achieve Advanced Award status

We’re thrilled to announce that IoSCM has received the Advanced Award status for the Good Work Pledge from the North of Tyne Combined Authority.

What is the Good Work Pledge?

The Good Work Pledge, which was launched in 2020, was developed with the purpose of improving the quality of work. Poor employment is a major concern across all industries, with many issues arising such as low pay, unreliable hours, a lack of wellbeing support and job security. The pledge is important because it promotes the idea that the impact of an organisation shouldn’t be measured by its financial returns only, it should also focus on making a positive impact on the people that work for it, the local community and ultimately the world.

The Good Work Pledge is awarded to organisations that can prove their dedication to employee health and wellbeing. The pledge includes two statuses, the Standard Award and the Advanced Award. The Standard Award is suitable for organisations that need further support with employment practices. The Advanced Award is suitable for organisations that already meet all the Good Work criteria.

The criteria for Good Work consists of 5 pillars, including:

  • Valuing and Rewarding Your Workforce
  • Promoting Health and Wellbeing
  • Effective Communication and Representation
  • Developing a Balanced Workforce
  • A Social Responsibility

Why Apply for the Good Work Pledge?

All employers who meet the criteria should consider applying, as this will promote your organisation as a good place to work, which will in turn have a positive impact on its reputation.

By addressing each of the pillars and understanding whether your organisation meets them or not, you are putting your employees’ needs at the forefront. Focusing on employees and their wellbeing is beneficial for employee loyalty, performance and productivity.

The aim of the scheme is to build a community of ‘good work’. If your organisation needs support with its employment practices, a great first step would be to apply for the Standard Award. If your organisation is already demonstrating good work across all areas, applying for the Advanced Award will validate all of your hard work. When your organisation is a part of the community, you’ll receive access to networking and learning opportunities to help your organisation grow further.

The Application Process

The application for the Good Work Pledge is completed online. You will be expected to select the award you are applying for, and provide specific information for assessment. You can find full information on the application process here.
